Ke Pesta Buku Antarabangsa Selepas 5 Tahun

Salam.

Selaku non-avid reader but a tsunduko (orang yang beli buku tapi sampai ke sudah buat hiasan macam aku), kedai buku ni ibarat satu tempat untuk aku lenyap dalam dunia aku sendiri. Apatah lagi pesta buku.

Datang masing-masing menggalas beg, malas nak bawak luggage sebab rasa macam tak banyak kot buku nak beli. Lepas tu memang dah set, aku pergi sebab nak survey harga buku je, bukan beli pun. Tapi biasanya apa yang diset ni seperti nelayan, kelaut dia pergi!

Berhabuk!

Sedar tak sedar, last aku sedar yang aku masih ada blog yang aktif adalah tahun lepas wicis the last entry aku pun dated back seawal Januari 2024 nyah!

Kat mana entah aku berhenti tulis pasal that one part of kisah hidup aku yang tak sempat habis karang tu? Nantilah aku rajin, aku sambung tulis.

Tatkala orang dah microblog, aku macam terpanggil nak hidupkan semula rutin bulanan aku semenjak zaman study membawa ke zaman tanam grapes sampailah sekarang - zaman dah kerja yang mana tiap hari asal bangun daripada tidur, the only thing yang aku look up to each day adalah waktu balik kerja.

So basically blog ni berhabuk lagi sekali dan banyak sebenarnya aku plan nak tulis so that in 15 years time, aku boleh baca balik tulisan tidak cukup umur aku. Kadang-kadang ni, kalau setakat kepingan gambar yang aku simpan dalam HDD, aku tak ingat pun gambar tu menceritakan tentang apa.

Whatever Happened in Those Years Part 2 : Berkhidmat Untuk Negara - Figuratively Speaking (COVID Edition)

 Salam.

Alkisahnya...

Whatever Happened In Those Years Pt. 1: In A Nutshell

 Salam.

Wow! It’s been a roller coaster 5 years since my last entry.

  • 2018 - aku masih juggled between karier dan study nak habiskan degree.
  • 2019 - pun masih sama
  • 2020 - PKP bermula.

Short Update

Wow! A year has gone since the last time I wrote here. Assuming not many people these days use this kind of platform since we have the microblog platforms like Weibo and Twitter. So what do we expect?
So where did I left?

Yes, yes! the Samsung post.

It has been almost a year since I started working as a government servant and I am quite liking my job as though my income is not as much but I think I earn as much as I deserve.

I started to sort out everything - my photography hobby again. I am shifting the whole idea of capturing only landscape to street photography and photojournalism. After all these times, now I've realized how much I love street photography.

Anyhow, my first semester final exams result was released earlier today. Due to some technical issues, my result was put on hold from actually being released, all praises to Allah, I scored all As for my first semester, but there are more semesters to come and not to mention the elevating difficulties as well.

I end this short post with a photo I photographed this morning as soon as I reached my office.

The right moment remains unknown. Only time will tell. One could only strive for it, one could only hope for the best outcome out of it. Regrets, failures are unavoidable feelings. You feel pain, it is okay. It means you are relieving. Youth is the process of us growing maturer. Let all the unknown feelings linger inside you, you do not know what you could gain from these emotions.

What's Up With Samsung?

I have been using Samsung smartphones for more than five years now and the smartphones I've been using have really pissed me off. I don't know about the latest smartphones released by Samsung but the old ones like S Advance and Ace Plus somehow bring me lots of trouble than good. I know they are really old models but truth is sometimes suck.

My S Advance is just like any other typical S Advance smartphones owned by many. its SIM Card slot and memory card slot are not functioning at all. No SIM Cards could be detected nor any memory cards.

My Ace Plus- I don't know, is nonchargeable. At first, I thought there was a faulty in the power socket or the cable so I even tried to change those. Man, my method wasn't working at all.

Not to name their other models though.

Perhaps it is true as what many people have claimed, Samsung sells their products for their looks not their performances.

(I'm still figuring out what smartphone should I buy now. The brand new Nokia 3,5.6 and 3310 are expected to be released and available in Malaysia's market in June. Can't wait to know what users and experts think of them)

Banyak Orang Banyak Ragam

This post is gonna be in Malay, fully.
This is purely based on writer's experience.

Mungkin sebab itu selalu sahaja terhasil artistic poem and thoughts on the spot. Entahlah nak.

She's Not A Loser

It's been forever since the last time she posted something on her blog and the year couldn't have been more hectic that she had to give herself some space - by temporarily stopping herself from doing such things that she used to do back then. The bad news is that her father's getting sicker, day by day.

About two years ago, she, surprisingly not surprisingly, couldn't get herself to enroll or further her study to the next level after her CIE A-Level's result was out due to some conflicts with the sponsor and so forth in which I'm not gonna write about it over here.

So, her parents wanted her to further her degree in management course, instead of engineering which she read while accomplishing her A-Level, in a local PUBLIC university. Unfortunately, not many local universities (private ones are excluded) accept any enrollment using A-Level results and if there are any, the applicants have to directly apply to the universities' dean or higher post. The method(s) of doing so is/are not disclosed to public. Public universities usually reserve a small portion of quota for the first degree enrollment via A-Level qualification. She comes from a mid-income family background, so she, by hook or by crook, had to apply for public universities only instead of private universities which take less time of waiting but cost lots of money.

She decided to apply through the Unit Pengambilan Universiti (UPU) system and had to wait till the next year to do because she didn't expect herself from getting rejected by the sponsor to further her study abroad when the university that she applied for was still offering her the program.

She thought that the UPU system could be her second chance of getting herself into a university but unfortunately, she took some requirement needed lightly - i.e: having seated for MUET prior the application submission date as it is REQUIRED for Malaysian Universities for every local applicant to have their MUET result provided to the system. She thought she could just use her IELTS result instead of the former. Unfortunately for her, her application was rejected by any universities with the same reason, no MUET result is provided.

This situation has brought a drought to her relationship with her parents (her father especially) and they didn't communicate for weeks. To shorten the story, one day, her father asked her if she wanted to join a-week course of film producing and she said yes. That's the only way she figured out on the spot, she could run away from the problem for awhile, from her still-angry father and they did start talking eventually when her father had to pick her up at the course's venue.

Her friend, a junior by a year under the same sponsor as she did, flunked her A-Level as well and their batch was at a better position that her batch was at (the year before) - they still got offered to further their degree/master in their respective programs by the sponsor due to some inner conflicts between the sponsor body itself, y'know, when your kids flunked and they are sponsored by your company and you are the big shot of the company, you've got the power to influence others to give them a second chance (provided with lil' extra requirement(s) as you don't want others to sense any biases there). It really broke her heart to know such thing occurred when she'd been trying so hard to appeal to give the same second chance the year before but wasn't entertained at all.

She, however, tried to be positive, much more positive than she'd ever be. She calmed herself by constantly reminding herself this could be just another test from The Creator and perhaps she'd better not off abroad as she's better off to another path of the road.

The Creator knows the best for us and for her particularly, He sent her some help through her friend by informing her regarding a chance of enrollment to UiTM and the procedures and all. She was so thankful because she could see some little light there and started sorting things out; her feelings and all and the she applied to the university.

Things started to get better for her. She felt one of the reasons of her failure dated two years back must due to her lessening some the religious activities she always did like reciting al-Quran daily, practicing all the sunnah and the list goes on. She only did the compulsory ones and she even liked dunya more than the hereafterr.

She decided to change. Once change, change it for all.

She learnt that she could never take anything for granted and every test or burden is never too much for one to carry because Allah tests us according to our limits. She started to re-practice things and ibadah that can make you to be bestowed upon you sustenance - like reciting surah al-Waqiah and al-Mulk daily, charities, sunat dhuha and even zikr (istighfar and so on).

Things started to change. She secured herself for some jobs interviews and of them resulted her to be reserved as an employee. She also got accepted to be a part of UiTM and enrolled to the university few weeks ago. All is well.

sometimes you have to act deaf for you to succeed, striving for the excellence because you cannot simply mute other people's mouth. Instead of talking back and raise your negativity, it is sometimes better for you to keep some distance from the bad-talkers or just simply act cool in front of them. Show them your positive attitude. Influence them to do the same but NOT influenced by them. When the time has come, the positive ones are always a winner.

Those heart-soothing wisdom.

I watch tonnes of Korean drama lately as I have TONNES of free time to be wasted by just looking at the small screen of my iPod and crying over those heart-wrenching stories. I know, it sounds a lil bit childish but come on, hear my cents out.

From what I've noticed by watching those dramas, it is better to presume that I love the way the scriptwriter(s) of each drama wrote the story line. Even though sometimes the stories ridicule realities but trust me, they are worth-watching because sometimes you have to fantasize over something, escape the bitter-tasted reality that we live within. You know, broaden up your imagination but don't over-fantasizing.

What I love the most from those Kdramas apart from the story line is their heart-soothing wisdom. I found them pretty consoling. Maybe because I once pictured myself as a writer and sometimes a cool person who can console broken souls by providing words of wisdom, y'know, a lil bit of a counselor myself.

I recently just finished watching 'Flower Boys Next Door', starred by Yoon Shi Yoon, Park Shin Hye etc. In the drama, Park Shin Hye is visualized as someone who has a past (well, everyone has a past) which by the way, is not so cool or good to be reminded of. Her past had turned her into a very difficult person; someone who has trouble to communicate with people around her, someone who always tries to lock herself in her room or house, someone who fears of the sound of knocking door, ringing phone, delivery and such. She has always been the one who shuts her feelings by any costs until one day when the flower boy (Yoon Shi Yoon) moves in the building across hers. The guy somehow manages to break the mold, the wall or whatever she had built resulted from her fears.

Nonetheless, I love the way the scriptwriter(s) approach(es) my guts and feelings with the beauty of words and how words can actually make me thinking, 'oh so this is how the girl feels and this is how the other characters feel', 'the word love itself can be defined differently according to one's favor'. You cannot judge people by solely taking one's opinion and resenting others' because that is not how a story, or even a chapter is made. Perspectives are considered as the flavors.

To end my rant, here's a screenshot of a scene from the drama.

Pizza Sandwich by Lazy Bums

Have you ever felt like having a slice of pizza at instant but just too lazy to get out of your house heading to any pizza parlor available in your town? Or perhaps your house is just not on the list of regions covered for any pizza delivery? i.e lembah beringin?

Fret not!

Lol when I reread the paragraph above, it sounded like I’m advertising a product. Totally joking people!

The title says it all. Me and my sis were craving for a pizza pan but yeah, we were just too lazy to spend our penny for a pizza (and gas). Hence we came out with our very own version of pizza sandwich by lazy bums.

All we needed were already available ingredients.

  • Slices of loaf bread (instead of the round-shaped bread they use)
  • Tomato sauce
  • Tomato slices (or a chopped one)

  • Chili sauce

  • Onions (any kind of onions and we used Holland Onions)

  • Cheese slices (you could use any kind of cheese that you want, or even a grated one as well)

  • Sausages (for toppings)

Step:
1. Spread the tomato sauce over the
slices of loaf bread

2. Slices of sausages go on top

3. The not-really-chopped onions go in.

4. Slices tomato.

5. Last but not least, the very sexy cheese slice goes in.

6. Then you bake it for a couple of minutes for each half
till it turns a golden brownish like this one.
Then, you're good to munch your pizza sandwich.

Khusyu' in Salah

Solat or Salah is one of the five pillars of Islam and an obligatory religious duty for every Muslim on top of that. Each Muslim knows that. What I'm going to write about today is one of many ways in getting khusyu' while performing your salah.

I remember when I was in high school, my ustaz used to remind us all about of one of the ways getting your khusyu' in Salah is by understanding bit by bit of recitation in Salah. Since I'm a Malaysian Muslim, I will share these graphics on the meaning of each recitation in translated in Malay language. I've actually come across these graphics while checking on my Facebook the other day.
Kudos to whomever made these.

English Translation: Allah the Most Great

English Translation:

All glory is due to You, O’ Allah during the morning and evening.
Surely I am facing towards He, Who Creates the Heavens and the Earth and I am not comprise with mushriks/polytheists/those who associates others with ALLAH.
Verily, my salah (prayer), my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all the exists)
He has no partner, and of this I have been commanded, and I am one of the Muslims.

Brader Kopi Point.

As days are getting hotter as temperature's risen, getting yourself hydrated with ice cubes probably would be one of the greatest options to choose.
Malaysia has no exception in regards of the El Nino effect. So every day there's this feeling of caging myself in a fridge which I would never do that obviously.

Many street vendors started to sell more drinks/beverages to help us the always thirsty people squeezing down the thirstiness and I for one, is one of those people who always thirsty. And recently I found out the existence of this business and I tend to always go there as they sell very delicious drinks for us.

My review on this :
They are great! They sell variety of flavors of your choice. And they also happened to have the apple and kiwi flavor, Yay!!

So, quickly get one of those coffees right now!

Brader Kopi Point.

A Malay Wedding

Recently, I attended a Malay wedding in Terengganu. Prior to the event, I have decided to shoot the event just to favor my growing interest in photographing people. On top of that, I have never done any wedding photography before.

The Dowry Presenters.

She's my sister and many people tend to say that we look alike.
The bride and groom's (together with their respective family) dining table.

Thanks to these fellas we finally were able to squeeze our thirst.
Frankly speaking, that was one hella wedding I've ever attended. Y'know, with the El Nino effect has taken place in Malaysia, the weather was scorching hot, and still is till this day.

Hence, my father decided to have this well-shaped fresh
coconut water to squeeze down the heat.
And yet we stay thirsty.

American Sitcoms and TV Shows.

I wasn't really a fan of any American sitcoms or TV Shows, not until I was introduced to The Nanny when I was in elementary school ( back in early 2003 or 2004 I think). Yeah, The Nanny was the first American sitcom I've ever saw on TV. It was aired on Hallmark Channel.
(At that time, the channel was available on Astro)

I still remembered how I was laughing so hard while watching the show as The Nanny was the funniest sitcom I've ever seen (at that time of course). Call me weird or whatnot, I remember I didn't really enjoy any Malaysian sitcoms (i.e. Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu) as much as I enjoyed The Nanny, probably because before we starting to subscribe to Astro, we only had the basic three channels (TV1, TV2, TV3) to switch in between. In addition to that, we actually had to rotate the TV aerial pole if we wanted to switch the channel from TV1 and TV2 to TV3. What a hard life we've been through. I think that's the main reason I wasn't really into Malaysian sitcoms which most of them were aired on TV3. It's hard, you know, to rotate the tall pole and everything.

A few years later, The Nanny was no longer aired and the channel was replaced with DIVA Universal. So, no more my American sitcoms resources available. Other channels were not helping at all because they tend to air more complicated-plot TV shows rather than airing a sitcom or two on their networks. As time passed by, I started to living far away from home; enrolled myself in a boarding high school etc. so I've figured out my interest in American sitcoms or TV shows was completely gone. But I must admit that I was wrong. During semester breaks and I was home all the time, the only thing that kept me busy (other than sleeping) was watching American TV Shows. That was the first time I found out the existence of Chuck while it was aired on a network. I usually spent my time watching the CSI franchises with my sister but as soon as I watched Chuck, I felt like my interest in American sitcoms and comedy TV shows has resurfaced.

From that very moment, I tried to look up on the Internet if I could stream every episode online or maybe download all the episodes. It took me almost 5 years to figure out the solution to my problem. Thank God!
  • Thanks to Chuck for the great OSTs. My music preference has changed since then.
  • Thanks to Chuck for the great lessons I've learnt throughout the show, and yes, when it comes to family and friends, it is a number one priority.
A few years later, channel Hits was introduced as a part of Astro family pack and I was, and still am, a happy kid. The channel provides awards-winning American TV shows and sitcoms that were tremendously popular back in 1980-1990s, and still are.

I learned the existence of Cheers, Seinfeld, The Golden Girls, Mad About You etc. And my most favorite definitely is Seinfeld. Come on! It is the all-time-favorite TV Show, well obviously it is my opinion and opinions are differ for each individual, but hey, it is one of the most popular and is the most high rating TV Show even after the syndication re-run on many networks i.e. TBS, Hulu and whatnot.
Cosmo Kramer, George Constanza, Elaine Benes, Jerry Seinfeld

The show is definitely something else, with their 'no hugging and no learning' policy. I must say, even the show was first aired in 1989 and hey I wasn't even born yet, I got to say how much I love the show. It's really brilliant. If one claimed the show is a show about nothing (which is totally opposite to what proposed by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld), I would rather put it as a show about nothing and everything.

Even though the finale was claimed to be a failure and mixed audience reactions were received, I just think that the finale wasn't that bad actually. It differs to each individual. One might take a lesson or two from the show and one might take no lessons at all. Seriously, it is up to you who watch the show.

I personally love the cast reunion on Curb Your Enthusiasm S7E10, when they acted like they were actually taping Seinfeld (like they try to make another finale instead of the criticized-real-ending from the show). I don't know. I just think LD is so genius and the rest of the cast and crew as well.

Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Richards (Kramer), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine),
Jason Alexander (George)
I actually love to see if there's any another possible reunion or Seinfeld project (i.e. Seinfeld movie perhaps) because I always feel happy and warm watching the cast and the show. I will always remember Kramer's unique entrances, Elaine's little kicks and thumbs out dance, the 'these pretzels are making me thirsty', 'yada yada' , 'no soup for you', 'anti-dentite' , 're-gifter' and many more. Too many to list out.

How To Install .apk File or .ipa File On Your Electronic Device.

Before we start this piece of cake tutorial today, let me write down the explanation on what is the .apk file extension and .ipa file extension.

  • Brief introduction on the extensions.
    • .apk file extension
Android application package (APK) is the package file format used by the Android operating system for distribution and installation of mobile apps and middleware.
APK files can be installed on Android powered devices just like installing software on PC. When a user downloads and installs an Android application from either an official source (such as Google Play), or from some other (unofficial) site, they are installing an APK file on their device.
A user or developer can also install an APK file directly to a device (that is, not via download from the network) from a desktop computer, using a communication program such as adb, or from within a file manager app in a process known as "sideloading".
By default, the ability to install from unofficial sites or directly from a desktop or file manager is disabled for security reasons on most Android devices. Users can enable it by changing the setting "Unknown sources" in the Settings menu.
Source : Wikipedia
    • .ipa file extension
An .ipa file (iPhone Application archive) is an iOS application archive file which stores an iOS app. Each .ipa file includes a binary for the ARM architecture and can only be installed on an iOS-device. Files with the .ipa extension can be uncompressed by changing the extension to .zip and unzipping.
Source : Wikipedia

Come on, it's okay to not know the description of both extensions. The important thing to note is an .apk file is used by the Android OS meanwhile an .ipa file is for iOS. When we download an app from either Google Play or App Store, we are actually downloading these extensions. When the app is installed, the file is actually being compressed so that you can use the app, say, the Instagram, like right now ( a readable app for us the end the users).
  • How to install an .apk file
    •   Firstly, download the .apk file to your android device. Remember the location where the downloaded .apk file is stored on your device.
    •  Go to your device setting > security > allow installation from sources other than the Play Store tab > tick the checkbox.
  • Disclaimer: this photo isn't mine. I'm just too lazy to screenshot
the whole process and I found this on Google.
      • Go to the location where the downloaded .apk file is stored. Click on the file. Start the installation process.
      • When the process is done, you’re good to use the app as the .apk file is completely installed as an app.

    • How to install an .ipa file
I'm gonna explain the easiest method that I always use so far.
      •  Firstly, download the .ipa file and remember the location where the downloaded .ipa file is stored. I would recommend you to download it directly from your PC and store it at any location you could easily access, i.e. save the .ipa file in the Download folder or Desktop.
      • Connect your iOS device to the PC. Or you can do this step first followed by the step above.
      • Open up the iFunBox. Follow the instructions as pictures shown below.
Go to the Managing App Data tab.
Then you'll see the Install App (*.ipa) - as circled above.
    Click on it.
Once you click, a window will appear. Look for the downloaded
.ipa file on your PC and click Save to begin the installation.
Once the installation finished, you're good to use the app on your iOS device.

I would recommend you people to use the iFunBox because it is easy to use and a very user-friendly app.

I hope this article is helpful for any of you out there.

Instagram's latest version: Could it be the worst nightmare?

Just wasting my time painting the canvas lol
Today (or yesterday), Instagram has released the latest update of the app; available on google play and apps store. Apparently I haven’t update my devices to the latest version just yet.

You see here, I got a habit of delaying the updating activities for any apps installed on my electronic devices. The reasons might be, yes, I don’t like spending my internet quota on these activities, and b because I usually spend my time reading reviews written by those immediate-updaters (I named them as such to refer to those who are the first one to update the apps to the latest version) before I start thinking whether to update any particular applications or otherwise.
*Note how many times I used the word 'update' in one single paragraph LOL.

Okay now let’s go back to the purpose of why I’m writing this entry. Last night, while I was scrolling down my Instagram feed, I saw a photo uploaded by Instagram itself. What actually caught my attention wasn’t the photo's caption but rather the comments posted by users. Lots of people riled up to criticize or give out their feedback on the latest version of the apps. Most common comments I’ve read are
    • The logout button is missing! Put it back on!
    • Where’s the switch account feature?
    • Help I cannot switch between accounts!
    • I have like more than 13k followers in my other account. Now that the switch and logout are missing, thanks to you, feel like I cannot update the account no more!
    • The update is suck! If you think this has made you a better social media platform, then I think you are very wrong! In any ways!
    • I really really hate this whole showing the best posts on your timeline thing. Like, seriously??
    • Do you really have to do that??
To be honest, I really don’t like the new Instagram’s feature of having our timeline no longer sorted chronologically as it should have been because that’s what a timeline is all about. I mean, come on! It maybe the best posts on my timeline but perhaps not according to my preference. The idea of turning on any users’ notifications is somehow dissed me. I’m sorry Instagram.
But thanks to them (the updaters) for providing such helpful and thoughtful comments or reviews regarding the apps because
    • The apps developers would love their feedback as these hardworking developers would immediately go all out and in to fix the glitches found in the latest version of the application, thus the known glitches would be disappear forever when the next update/version is released in the nearest future. See that’s why the feedback section on Apps Store and Google Play is important.
    • The other users should aware if there are any problems with the apps before updating the apps on their devices. It is each user’s responsibility when it comes to self-awareness, thus the ‘SELF’ there. Users should not be a lazy bum to read the reviews because this is a healthy trick for them to make a wise decision; should or shouldn’t I update the apps or not just yet?
It is important to note that an update doesn’t necessarily mean that every glitch or bug found in the previous version of a particular apps is ‘gone’ gone, forever disappear or whatever the term you’re using. Basically an update means the apps has been tweaked in any ways to suit and satisfy users’ needs. That’s the reason why for an apps/ software, the version number comes after their name
eg: Instagram v7.19.0 < the latest version of Instagram.

My friend texted me about the disappearance of Clear Search History button on Instagram. She updated the apps this afternoon and somehow couldn’t find the named button. A few buttons are missing and I hope everyone’s handling this kind of situation very well and wisely.

But hey, there’s always a trick to get the previous version of any apps back installed on your devices. If your device is running on Android platform, try to google  'instagram’s version (ie: instagram version 17) .apk file free download', download the file to your device and install it but make sure to allow the installation of apps from sources other than the Google Play Store on your device. (in the device setting)

If your device is running on iOS platform, replace the .apk file with .ipa file instead before googling them. To install any .ipa file on your iOS devices, I would recommend you to use iFunBox (a software available for PCs) and be sure that your device is connected to your PC to do so.
    Then you’re good to go!
    (I explained this here)

Anyway, how do you find the latest version of  Instagram? Me favor the previous one rather than this one. It's up to you people to get the latest version or not. There're always these two stores:
