Travelogue : Johor.

Assalamualaikum wbt.

It's almost two weeks already since my first day staying at this gigantic building of the University of Technology, Malaysia. Some people even questioned me with all these,
'what the hell are you doing there?'
'So, you're pursuing your degree there, huh?'
well, I'd answer them,
'No, I'm not. I've a sister, doing her Master in here. So I'm kinda visiting her.'
'Pray me for the best, will ya?' -the answer for the second question. Ask no more.
OKAY. Here's the thing.

I've been here for some issues which would take me a whole world to reveal them to you. Besides, I'm kinda in the mood of travelling. Well, not quite 'travelling' though but I'd rather call this as my lil' travelling experiences here in Skudai; a part of Johor.

So where to begin with? Let's do some flashback to when I first stepped my foot in Johor this time. 'Twas August 20th, 2015, on Thursday. Basically, there were me and my other family members, in the midst of chilly midnight, crossing through all the highways (not all obviously, I'm kinda making this up) heading to Skudai, Johor.

Morning rise and shine from my cars #eh

We reached there by 10 in the morning on the next day. We rented a homestay; Homestay Qaisara, just a mile away from the university. It costed us RM180/overnight. Not gonna be detailed at this point, but here are some photos of the homestay.

First bedroom
Third bedroom.

The Kitchen. We did all the cooking in here. All the cooking tools
are readily available for us to use.
There are two bathrooms with a toilet in each.

The spacious living room. A TV is also available and we
enjoyed wathcing Sporean channels so much =)
The homestay is air-conditioned. It also has a fridge, feeling a bit of living in our own house.

On the second day, we basically did nothing but eating, cooking, eating, cooking and repeat. My dad wasn’t really feeling well that week so he decided to stay in the homestay while the rest of us went for groceries shopping at KiP Mart, and I don’t know why it’s spelled that way. Don’t ask me!

On the third day aka their last day in Johor instead of me as I’d be staying at my sister’s, we went for lunch at Johor Bahru. Then they sent us off at this university and until this moment I’m writing this entry, I still in my sister’s room.

Not so many places that I went to besides the Taman Universiti.

A lil' desert from UTM's Pak Lah Cafe.It costed us RM7.50

Had our lunch at Sedap Sup at Taman University.
Their curry was so delicious, I tell you.
On the next day, we went to a warung at Taman U for some hot snacks. The warung is located just a walking distance from Pasar Besar Taman U. There are many warungs actually but yeah, they sell all these kind of hot snacks.

Cendawan goreng, pisang goreng,
cempedak goreng in
one plate

Cekodok, bayam goreng

Having cendols in the midst of a blazing hot day was such a blessing

After that, we did a takeaway for this food, the so called 'Nasi Ayam Penyet' of Restoran Bibik.

In a week, I had two sets of Nasi Ayam Penyet
from two different restaurants.
Javanese-ing my taste bud in no time
My sister once told me, if you ever come to Johor Bahru, never forget to have your meal at BIGFOOD, in which I've mistakenly heard it as Bigfoot. At Bigfood, they serve you anything you wanted (from the menu obviously) in a very big plate, thus the name of the restaurant; Bigfood.
You could have masakan panas, Western cuisines all in one place.

I had a plate of Fish n Chip and it took me forever to
finish them.
*end of the first part.
